Illustrations by D. R. Wagner
Shoes is a linked cycle of twelve narrative poems that explores the role of places "geographical, metaphorical and cinematic" in the formulation of notions of desire. The shifting voices in the poems "sometimes his, sometimes hers, sometimes both" are lyrical, poignant, and often erotic evocations of the stories that Shoes might tell.
